I’ll start with the bad. The complete overhaul of our original website plan was triggered by the 2 upper level bosses, yet one of them is now acting as if he never read his own request and doesn’t like the change that HE suggested. Of course, they still want to go live by Feb 25. The poor communication and this man’s absolute power is unbelievable. I read the email and screamed. I told them April 30 would be my last day.

Now for the pseudo bad news. My interview went well today. However, they had a huge network failure that morning so none of the IT people were available to speak with me. The sales guy said they were using an Access DB. I cringed. Oh yeah, and now they’re not sure if they want to create a new site once they realized the cost. Apparently, if they go for it, I’m their girl, though. And no, we haven’t talked payment. I wish I would have asked about their cost estimate.

Finally, some good news. I met with a freelance client this morning, and we overruled the committee’s design pick. It is times like this when my gift for bashing my own work pays off. I talked her out of the other ones easily. It’s so lovely, though, because it seems when the committee sat down, they said “Well, which did Mindy like? We don’t know about what’s good for websites. We trust her opinion.” Thank you, thank you for not pretending to know the business. Also, the lady nearly has all the content gathered, and we’re only in design phase. What a concept.

Well, I’m home for the weekend, which means I get good food and have to fix every computer/electronic-related problem in the house. Yes, I know I enjoy it. heh

Oh, and for that same project, they’re gonna go with my photography for the main photos of the design. I believe a digital SLR will be my next investment. I have some ideas on how to earn money for my photos. I need to get more serious about it.
