Alarm Rant
http://www.thiscellardoor.com/blog/entry/alarm_rant/
Buzzers and alarms have been quite a mini-theme today. First there was my alarm that I forgot to turn off so I could sleep in.
Secondly, there’s the “OMG something bad is happening” siren that’s tested the first Saturday of every month at 11am. Hello, if anything bad ever happens on the first Saturday of a month, I’m completely gonna die…#1 because I can barely hear it over my music and #2 because if i do hear it, I’m like “oh it must be the first Saturday of the month”.
Lastly, I burnt my pizza today (after a consensus, it has been determined that burnt is the correct word). Anyway, I’m a good kid so I always set a timer. I know how pre-occupied I can get. Well, I set my timer and all that good stuff today, but then I got side-tracked and later i was like “OMG OMG my pizza”...I ran out of my room expecting to hear the alarm going off…nope, complete silence. Apparently, after so long, it stops buzzing. Now, does anyone else see a problem with that? I need it to go off for a long time, so that I eventually hear it, first off. But more importantly, is that how all alarms work? I mean seriously, I don’t want a smoke detector that cries “ahh! fire, fire” but then after 10 min or so decides that I must not be home, so its services aren’t needed and just stops its chirping.
My only guess is that it’s one of those “neighbor-friendly” devices, so if you set a timer for a pizza and leave for say a day (b/c you know, everyone does that), the neighbors won’t have to hear your buzzer. *sigh* The world we live in.
