A Wii-mateur, No More

I haven’t posted in like a month, but don’t worry, you haven’t missed much…just the usual mid-life crisis & binge eating :) Honestly, I’ve been spending most my free time with my wii. Tonight, I surpassed the 1000 point marker and achieved pro status for bowling. It only took me 18 games to get there, which I’m going to say is incredible, whether or not that’s really true.
Actually, I have several wii-complishments (did you see what i did there? everybody’s doing it) to share. I’ve gone from baseball strike-outs to not only hitting home runs, but hitting them out of the park. My golf game has improved from +12 to -2. Actually, I went in to the 9th hole this evening with -6 but that last hole totally owned me, which was a shame. And tennis, well believe it or not, I’m finally hitting the ball in-bounds and have racked up a 700+ skill level.
You might be wondering what it takes to become a wii-fessional (i totally did it again) like myself. Well, boys & girls I take the wii fitness test every morning (except for a few days when I was lazy & ill) and I practice several hours a week. I think I’ve tallied up well over 5 hours just today.
Now has it gotten me in shape? Well, that’s hard to say but my arms now only hurt for a day instead of a week after play and it takes a bit more for me to break a sweat, so I think progress is being made. As far as losing weight, umm see binge eating comment above.
And my bouts of sore muscles have brought about new hobbies, like playing solitaire. I learned 4 variations last Saturday. I think I played cards on the floor for well over 5 hours too. It’s not that I’m completely anti-social and don’t have friends, but I just don’t do social calls in -3 degree weather. It’s hard enough getting to work.
I suppose the only other thing to note is that the Colts won the Super Bowl. I didn’t get psychotically happy like I felt I should have, but I enjoyed the game. Interceptions are the only thing that hold my attention and this game packed quite a few. It was good times hanging out at Adam’s with my people. It was pretty funny at how non-sports fans we all were.
Other than that, there’s a busy week ahead. Lily’s having surgery, comedy sign-up, V-day (not that i have plans but i’m planning some treats for work), and it’s my birthday weekend which should be good times. Oh, and sometime in there I need to renew my license and dye my hair before that.
Lastly, you might enjoy this little exchange I had at work:
Guy: Ghetto revival, baby
Me: Did you just say “Get over the bible, baby??”
Guy: No…
Me: Too bad, because that would have been hilarious coming from a Taylor [christian university] grad
