A Good Dose of Laughter

Last night, I caught a bit of a health feature about the healthy benefits of laughter. Now don’t quote me, but I believe they said that after watching the movie King Pin, most of the test group’s arteries had relaxed as much as if they had exercised for 20 minutes. Relaxed arteries allow for greater blood flow, thus more oxygen gets to the brain.
It makes perfect sense. Who doesn’t feel incredible when they’re laughing? Time and again, if I get in a rut with something I am working on, I’ve found that even a short chat with one of my friends who can really get me rolling, clears my head and makes work smooth sailing. So if anyone’s ever wondered my secret to figuring out problems, now you know. There’s scientific evidence to support why it works, too.
On the down side, watching stressful movies decreased blood flow by 35%, which is a bit disturbing. Since I already have poor eating habits, it seems I may be risking my life by watching any non-comedies.
I found the online article, but it doesn’t seem to contain everything mentioned in the broadcast.
So I must leave you with a laugh, for your health, of course. Here’s dialogue between a host and little old lady from an old school game show:
Host: “What’s slang for money?”
Lady: *timid* “bitch?” *giggles*
Host: “For money???”
Lady: “oooh, I thought you said mommy”
