2007…So Long, See Ya, Good Riddens

So last night I drafted a horribly depressing look back at 2007, but as is often the case, the adrenaline rush of impending events leaves me with a positive outlook on everything. So rather than a drawn out recollection of my downward spiral in to depression, I’m going to highlight what was awesome and hopefully forget the rest in due time.
It’s 6:30pm. I’m hastily compiling my best of 2007 mix cd for my traveling about tonight. My best of CDs live in my car, because they’re awesome. I’m not sure how well this year’s will hold the test of time, since honestly, there were very few tracks that I became particularly obsessed with. I’ll have to save the list for last…because I’m struggling, so let’s start with memorable moments.
Moments
- Random trip to San Fran - Definite milestone for me. Staying at a complete stranger’s home and conquering public transport. I was pretty proud of myself. And it just might have been my longest casual stroll ever. My estimate on Google Maps put it around 5 miles. Golden Gate to Chinatown.
- Charleston Road Trip - Another bold move…I left the state with a comedian I barely knew and joined up with more comedians I barely knew and had a bad ass good time. It’s a shame we left before the dwarf started pouring jager shots.
- Game night at Coop’s - Possibly the best party of the year, full of “thrill rides”
- Pacers/Celtics game - Despite the short post, I had an amazing time. Attempting to sing (scream) along to Andy, You’re a Star with Tyler will definitely be hard to rival for the best true brief moment of the year….maybe I should say sober moments.
- I’ve watched like 5 or 6 complete NFL games. It gives me a sunday social life, and is definitely worth noting. It’s the first time in my life I’ve watched an entire non-superbowl NFL game. Heck, I even bought a jersey.
- Closing down Local’s Only - Extreme fun with completely random people.
- MC-ing with Mike Veneman & Patrick Deguire - Two amazing comedians and the best night of comedy I’ve had thus far. The early saturday night show was euphoric. Packed house and they loved me. It was probably one of the happiest 15 minutes of the year.
Concerts
- Andrew Bird at the Music Mill - Amazing show. Best photos I’ve ever taken. Cute banjo boy that I so horribly tried to flirt with.
- And…Andrew Bird in Newport, KY - Awesome road trip to Newport and a show I did not want to end.
- Interpol at the Murat - So much better than I even expected. I got my “Evil” fix and all the new songs were gorgeous.
Man…I still don’t know my top songs. It’s 7:19pm. The map thing took a long time :)

This list is so incomplete. I have 4 CDs I plan to buy tomorrow. Yes, I still buy CDs. I would buy them tonight but In Rainbows isn’t out til tomorrow! I’m gonna get new Feist, Bright Eyes, & Bon Iver as well.
Now I need to burn this CD, finish my cheese ball and start celebrating NYE. 7:40pm
Cheers to better times in ‘08 :)
